Easy Peppermint Simple Syrup Recipe

Peppermint plant

As summer comes to a close, if you grew peppermint and it went crazy growing in your garden, here is a great way to use some of it. Try this easy HOW-TO recipe on making simple syrup using fresh peppermint leaves. It is wonderful for any of your favorite summer drinks, especially iced tea.

Peppermint also happens to also be in ROOMIGATOR™ in the form of an organic essential oil. It's the one part of the ingredients that most people tell me they can identify. There is nothing like the beautiful, uplifting aroma of fresh peppermint.

Mint Simple Syrup

2 cups sugar
1 cup water
About a cup of packed peppermint leaves

Bring ingredients to boil until sugar is dissolved, boil for about 1 more minute.
TIP: Keep an eye on it so it doesn't burn.
Remove from heat to fully cool.
Strain the mixture, discard mint, and use a teaspoon or two in your iced tea. (Go easy, simple syrup is what puts the "sweet" in sweet tea, so measure and taste!) TIP: If you grew spearmint, just substitute the leaves of that herb for peppermint in the recipe.
